CRAFT FAIR

ST NICHOLAS, GAYTON

 

Come and visit and do some early Christmas shopping as we have 16 exhibitors of hand made crafts in Church.

Artists, Knitters, Wood carving, Crochet, Cakes, Fudge, Jewellery, Paper, hand made dog leads, and a variety of other Crafts. Free Entry



SATURDAY 11th SEPTEMBER 9.00 - 5.00 pm

NORFOLK CHURCHES TRUST CYCLE RIDE

 

Bike, walk, ride or drive around the beautiful Norfolk countryside, stopping off at as many churches and chapels as you can along the way. Be sponsored for your visits or simply make a donation to the Norfolk Churches Trust or to a nominated church.

Last year the event raised over £173,000, exceeding their target of £100,000! The money has been divided between the church of the participant’s choice and The Norfolk Churches Trust, which gives grants to hundreds of churches for repairs, renovation, and the conservation of their buildings. 

Information packs will be sent out in early July, and Norfolk Churches Trust will be posting information on their Fundraising and News page and via Social Media.

REVD. JANE - A CELEBRATION OF HER LIFE.

With readings and songs and stories that were some of her favourites. A chance to pay your respects to our Rector over 10 years who sadly died in February.

This will be a celebration with afternoon tea in the grounds after the service.

ARTS AND CRAFTS EXHIBITION

ST ANDREW'S CHURCH, LT MASSINGHAM

Saturday 24th July - The Friends of St Andrew’s Church Little Massingham - FOSALM.org will launch their new Charity with an Art and Crafts Exhibition. 

On sale will be paintings, sketches, cards, textiles, needlework and books about Norfolk. For sale, locally spun wool and spinning demonstrations will take place during the day. Whilst at the church stop for refreshments, buy a scrumptious cake from the cake stall or try your luck at the raffle. . Join us at Little Massingham Church on Saturday 24th July . Free entry from 11.30 until 3.30 pm.

The event will follow Covid-19 Government Guideline

 


SUNDAY 4th JULY 10.30 am

VINTAGE TRACTOR RUN

GRIMSTON

Manor Farm, Grimston,

 

Covid restrictions permitting we are intending to resume the Manor Farm Vintage Tractor Road Run on
Sunday 4 th July. As before, tractors will be led away by Roger Coe at 10.30am to traverse the village and
then strike into the country for their 22 mile journey via Massingham and Sandringham. 
Tractors will return around mid afternoon.
Because of the unusual circumstances and concerns over COVID, this year the road run will be
a vehicle only event, although all are welcome to come and view tractors as they leave and return.
Coffee and light refreshments will be available.

We are so pleased to be able to join together in things that we have missed so much. So come and join us on a visit to 7 open gardens here

in Harpleywith refreshments served in Church all day. Tickets are just £4.00 and are available with the maps in Church.

A sale by the Church Porch and grounds of Books, Clothes, Bric a Brac, Toys ...a little bit of Everything.
There will also be Cakes, A Tombola and a Raffle.
Proceeds will be used for the Food Bank and St Mary's Church


WEDNESDAYS IN LENT on ZOOM

FEB 24th , MARCH 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th AT 3.00 PM.

Please join us for our Lent Course  Hope and a Future. 


We will be meeting by Zoom on Wednesdays in Lent, starting at 3.00pm for approx. 45 minutes,,  dates are; 24th February, 3rd March, 10th March, 17th March and 24th March

You can join for individual sessions or for the whole course. Each session will have a presentation using slides. The Bible and prayers will form a backbone to each  week, plus additional resources.

There will  be plenty of time for discussion so we can share our thoughts. No charge involved !! But bring your own tea and choice of cakes!

ST MARY'S CHURCH, GT MASSINGHAM

 

The Church is OPEN for anyone needing support over Christmas. Come along and fill your own Christmas Hamper -
some toys and gifts are available. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has supported and donated to the scheme. It has been amazing.


 REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY SERVICES 8th NOVEMBER

 

The latest government advice is that a risk assesment for containing the virus must be evaluated with regard for public safety. Sadly we did not feel we were able to observe the requirements for the scheduled services at Gayton, Grimston and  Ashwicken and these public services were cancelled. There has been be a short private wreath laying ceremony at these Churchesand the names of the Fallen were read out. Our photo shows our reader Joy Smith at St Botolph's Church, Grimston and similarly Revd. Sue Martin carried out the ceremony at St Nicholas, Gayton and both later at Ashwicken All Saints.

Commemorative service also took place at Gt Massingham and Harpley on the day. There is more from Harpley here.

There was also a well attended Remembrance ZOOM Service at 10.50 am. on SUNDAY 8th with 50 people joining in.

A HOLY COMMUNION SERVICE WITH BISHOP JONATHAN

 

The Rt Rev Jonathan Meyrick has served in full-time ministry for 45 years

and will be three months short of his 69th birthday when he steps down on January 25, 2021.

We are very thankful, then, to have this opportunity to celebrate Holy Communion with him

and to be able to give thanks for all his years of service and particularly for almost a decade as Bishop of Lynn.

taken place in April, but because of Covid it was postponed.

RINGING & CRYING OUT FOR PEACE

We will celebrating this event near to the memorial.

There will be the cry for peace, the tolling of the bell 75 times

followed by a short prayer and the bugler playing the last post as the standard is lowered.
