"I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people." Luke 2.10

RED NOTES :

St Mary, Great Massingham ....Heating. We have had a problem in the cold weather with very inefficient heating in church. We have just completed this project with new overhead heaters and two mobile heaters which are much more efficient. This should reduce our very large electric bill (over 600 pounds so far this year). Our insurance so far this year is over 800 pounds. We have had the electrical installation inspected recently as per regulations. The report showed this to be unsatisfactory with several areas with faults. We have addressed several faults including a serious earthing fault , new switching gear and wiring faults. So far we have paid out:- Inspection and report  £780.00, 2x mobile heaters 3Kw  £1017.00, Overhead heaters   £2550.00, Various rewiring and repairs  £1729.00, Totalling £6076.00.This has severely depleted the fabric funds which we have been accumulating for any repairs. The inspection has thrown up some more faults on our lighting circuit. There are two faults on the south lighting circuit and organ . The wiring is fabric covered rubber insulation which is breaking down and in the conduit is a potential fire hazard. The lights were switched on in 1928 and the wiring (except for the chandeliers which are much more recent)  is from that era.The cost of rewiring this circuit is   £2475.00 plus vat and the north lighting circuit which will need replacing but is not showing any faults will cost £1395.00 plus vatThe chancel has two lights which need replacing also the old wiring. To replace the wiring and provide four new lights £1920.00 plus vat. These jobs are high level and need scaffolding which is included in the price. These are jobs that need doing urgently and any donations towards this project will be very gratefully received We are very grateful for a donation of £1000.00 from the Brun family. This is much appreciated. Stephen Hudson, Churchwarden
